1. Introduction Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a persistent condition characterized by heartburn and reflux, which are typical symptoms resulting from the regurgitation of stomach and duodenal contents into the esophagus [1]. This disease may also present with extraesophageal symptoms such as chest pain, throat discomfort, and cough [2]. The etiology of GERD is multifactorial, and the escalating prevalence of this condition has led to a corresponding rise in healthcare costs.
