Do you have to open the door to police or other law enforcement in Mississippi? It depends on a few factors. Know your rights ahead of time and have a plan in place to be sure you're letting in a real law enforcement officer. On June 14, a Minnesota man reportedly shot and killed state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and seriously injured state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife. Police say the shooter had set up his vehicle with lights and a fake license plate to look like a squad car.
