1 Introduction One of the most studied phenomena in face recognition research is the other-race effect (ORE). This effect simply shows that human observers are generally better at recognizing own-race versus other-race faces (Estudillo et al. 2020; Malpass and Kravitz 1969; Meissner and Brigham 2001). The ORE is robust and has been replicated across different races and ethnic groups (Lee and Penrod 2022; Meissner and Brigham 2001).
