Cellphones are not allowed on the grounds of Augusta National during Masters week. The crowds in April are there for golf. What would it look like if TPC Scottsdale had the same “no phones” on the premises policy? Would there be a drop in attendance? Would that be such a bad thing? Would the tournament still be the “Greatest Show on Grass”? I’m sure it would be. There was something noble about Sunday’s final round. Rory and Bryson dueling. The roller-coaster ride for McIlroy.

We will never see Kevin Durant in a Phoenix Suns uniform again, and I am ok with that. New ownership went for the big splash rather than keeping the core together and look what’s happened. The organization is in no mans land with Durant. They know they have to trade him, will teams overpay for an aging superstar? Durant isn’t a stiff, but the idea that the Suns will find a taker with big draft capital and young star players coming back in a KD deal is slim to none.

The Hometown Nine isn’t performing. Sure it’s early, but let’s not sugar coat it, the Diamondbacks have been a early season disappointment. With a loaded starting rotation(current ERA 6.27), I was certain that we’d see this team get off to a much, much better month of April. Zac Gallen hasn’t been effective in two of his three starts. Katel Marte is on the injured list and Jake McCarthy has yet to collect a base hit. Torey Lovullo’s team hasn’t been clean in the field either.

Calais Campbell is back in Arizona where it all began. Very smart signing by the Cardinals to bring in someone who can lead, mentor, and be productive even if it’s not every down on the stat sheet. It’s one thing for pro sports teams to bring in a player to sell seats and gear, it’s another to bolster a roster with a quality performer like Campbell…I am expecting to hear Patrick Peterson’s name floating around the Cardinals in the next week or two.
