At first glance, it’s hard to be anything but down over news about the news. Another media launch went up in smoke two weeks ago when The Messenger, having burned through millions amid a bonfire of boneheaded blunders by founder Jimmy Finkelstein, keeled over, leaving more than 500 journalists looking for new jobs. Some are ex-colleagues of mine, some are friends, and I feel for them.
