As a storm system slowly passes by to our north, it looks like we will see an increase in winds through the end of the week and into Easter weekend. Winds will begin to increase midweek, with some of the strongest winds arriving Thursday and Friday. This will also likely bring blowing dust back to the Borderland, especially Thursday and Friday. When visibilities could drop below 1 mile at times, in areas of blowing dust.

As a storm system passes by to our north, it looks like we will see an increased winds continue through the weekend. In fact we will likely wind gusts of 40+ mph Saturday, with gusts to 35+ mph possible Sunday. Higher gusts possible east facing mountain slopes. Along with the gusty winds, we could see isolated areas blowing dust. Especially with continued dry conditions. After the storm system moves through the Rocky Mountains and continues east, lighter winds will return Monday.

The KFOX14 Severe Weather Team has issued a Weather Warn for Thursday, due to the expectation of strong winds and blowing dust. Winds Thursday are expected to range between 25 and 35 mph out of the southwest, with gusts over 50 mph possible. As a result visibilities may become reduced in areas of blowing dust. Blowing dust is possible once again, however it will not be as dense as Friday due to a slight shift in wind direction.

As a front pushes in from the north and east tonight, we will see an increase in windy weather tonight. In fact we will likely winds of 25 to 35 mph. With gusts to 50+ mph possible, especially west facing mountain slopes. As a result, a Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, from 11 p.m. through 8 a.m.Along with the gusty winds, we could see isolated areas blowing dust. Especially with continued dry conditions.

The KFOX14 Severe Weather Team has issued a Weather Warn Sunday through Wednesday morning for colder air moving back into the Borderland. A strong cold front will move into the Borderland later Saturday night. This first front will likely keep our high temperatures in the 40s Sunday, making for a cold day. This will mean a cold star to our Monday morning, with low temperatures in the lower to mid 20s early Monday.
