Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, says the apex bank is not artificially shoring up the value of the naira with the country’s foreign reserves. Speaking at a meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, Wednesday, Cardoso said the naira is performing independently and on its own strength, and that the local currency’s recent appreciation is not contrived, as is being speculated in some quarters.

President Bola Tinubu has commended Dangote Oil and Gas Limited for reducing the pump price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel. The Group recently reviewed downwards the gantry price of diesel from N1,650 to N1,000 per litre for a minimum of one million litres of the product, as well as providing a discount of N30 per litre for an offtake of five million litres and above.
