SIERRA VISTA –Bird and nature lovers and organizations congregated at the Mall of Sierra Vista this week for the Southwest Wings Birding and Nature Festival. People who walked around the small festival would see many stands advertising nature tours in both Sierra Vista and Mexico, birding equipment, books, live animals native to Arizona, and educational info.

SIERRA VISTA — The Arizona State Little League Tournament finally started Tuesday afternoon after the previous day’s games had to be rescheduled due to a monsoon storm. The teams that faced off were Arcadia (D6) vs Rincon (D12), Chandler National (D13) vs Nogales (D8), East Mesa (D14) vs Canyon View (D5), and Prescott Valley (D10) vs Four Peaks (D7). Because of the rescheduling, the eight teams faced off in two different fields at Stone Park.

SIERRA VISTA — Rachella Westbrook replaced Mary Hyder as the executive director for the Miss Sierra Vista Scholarship Foundation and Pageant this year. Hyder announced her retirement in January, releasing a letter where she thanked several people involved in the organization, and personally declared that Westbrook would be the new executive director come this month.
