Toledo Mud Hens 9, St. Paul Saints 4 (box)The Hens clinched a series victory on Saturday night as Saints’ pitching imploded repeatedly. After playing right field last night, Matt Vierling got the Hens rolling with a single out of the DH spot in this one to start the game. He was wild pitched to second, and walks to Justyn-Henry Malloy and Andy Ibáñez loaded the bases with one out. Brewer Hicklen smoked a two-run double to left for a 2-0 lead.

Toledo Mud Hens 16, St. Paul Saints 7 (box) Wilkel Hernandez strong start has been fading in recent weeks, but the offense didn’t need a whole lot of help as they torched Saints pitching all night on Friday. Hernandez allowed two in the first, two in the second, and one in the fourth, giving up three home runs on the evening in what was probably his worst start of the season. Still, it only raised his ERA to 4.01, and there’s time to turn things around.

St. Paul Saints 8, Toledo Mud Hens 2 (box)Reese Olson’s second rehab start went very well, but the bullpen crumbled in the middle innings on a quiet night for the Hens offense. The Hens got out to a quick lead when Hao-Yu Lee walked with one out in the first and scored on Justyn-Henry Malloy’s double. Akil Baddoo walked, stole second, and scored on a Gage Workman double in the second.

Manuel Margot led off the third inning with a single and Brian Serven was hit by a pitch. Fly balls from Hao-Yu Lee and Justyn-Henry Malloy moved Margot to third and then home on Malloy’s drive for a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Jace Jung led off with a walk and scored on an Akil Baddoo triple.

Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images The first phase of fan voting for the 2025 MLB All-Star game roster doesn’t end until June 26. However, MLB released early returns from the vote count on Monday. So far, the Detroit Tigers are rightly pretty well represented.
