People get into the holiday spirit with a visit from Santa at the Hay House

MACON, Ga. — Ho, Ho, Ho! That is what some people heard at the Hay House on Saturday during their visit with Santa. Santa came to take some pictures with several kiddos in Macon. People could come and get their pictures taken with Santa from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The visit with Santa at the Hay House is an annual tradition going back at least for 20 years. 13WMAZ got to speak with Santa Claus and he said he loved coming to Macon.

PERRY, Ga. — The City of Perry kicked off the holiday season with a Gingerbread Village: A Sweet and Merry Christmas Parade on Saturday. The parade started at 10 a.m. There were more than 80 floats featuring representatives from the community in Perry. Frank Lester said the parade is good for kids and they always love seeing Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. "I think it was great to see Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the kids were very excited to be here and I was excited," he said.
Participants compete to be top dog at the Winter Wonderland Cluster Dog Show

PERRY, Ga. — On Saturday, several competed to see who would be the top dog. The Winter Wonderland Cluster Dog Show welcomed all breeds and hundreds of dogs and owners to the Georgia Grown building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Argicenter. The dogs are scored in several categories from obedience to performance and much more. There are also different levels from novice to intermediate to advanced and so on all the way up to master and choice levels.

PERRY, Ga. — People had some fun at the Winter Classic Swine Show in Perry. The event was held by the Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter. The Georgia Junior Livestock Foundation was founded as a statewide organization to promote youth livestock exhibitors of Georgia for their hard work and dedication. The Georgia State Livestock Shows were chosen as a forum to aid these young people.
Montford Point Marine given medal at Georgia Military College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — In Milledgeville on Saturday, a Montford Point Marine was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal Award. The Montford Point Marines were the first Black Americans to enlist in the U.S. Marines after President Franklin Roosevelt issued an executive order establishing the fair employment practices commission in June 1941.
Aviation Day Festival Fly-In lands in Eastman

EASTMAN, Ga. — In honor of National Aviation Day, Middle Georgia State University sponsored a fly-in event. It was held at the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport in Eastman. This is the second annual festival. The free event allowed students to see World War Two aircraft like the P-51 and T-34 and preview nearly 20 aircraft along with some helicopters.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — On Saturday, the incoming students at Georgia College & State University (GCSU) were introduced to the Milledgeville community. The event is a part of the college's week of welcome. Since 2018, the event allows students to learn more about local organizations and build community relationships. The biggest volunteer site this year is the Life Enrichment Center's back-to-school Kids Block Part in the Urban Arts Village.

The sale allowed businesses to bring in more customers to see their merchandise at discounted prices. What was new this year was the warehouse sale. Macon church hosts Stop the Violence event

MACON, Ga. — A Macon church looks to have a more positive community influence in the city. They held a Stop the Violence event on Saturday to share ways to work together and limit violent crimes. Covenant Life Cathedral hosted the event and church leaders would like to see more children educated on how engaging in violent crimes is dangerous.
Bragg Fam offers kids a chance to get in on the weekend festival fun

MACON, Ga. — We know Bragg Jam is going on all Saturday afternoon for the adults but the kids had their own fun during Bragg Fam. The event allows kids to take part in the charitable organization with fun, family-friendly activities. At the Society Garden, kids could see Disney princesses, do arts and crafts, play in the bounce houses, do some coloring and tie-dye shirts. The event was held from noon until 4 p.m. Kids got in free and it was $10 for adults.
