An oft-repeated $1.1 billion demand from Chicago’s mayor would actually wind up costing state taxpayers $5.5 billion. And Gov. J.B. Pritzker is turning a big thumbs down. Chicago Public Schools made the huge mistake of putting a ton of temporary federal pandemic aid into its permanent spending base for years and that money is just about gone. It also recently over-estimated some state tax revenues.

Denver PrideFest is one of the nation's largest Pride events, and it took over Civic Center Park to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary on Sunday, June 23, with its annual parade and more festivities. About 200 pro-Palestine protesters delayed the parade at its start, before police moved them to the side of the street, according to CPR. The demonstrators later joined the parade down Colfax, and were welcomed to the PrideFest stage by MC DeMarcio Slaughter, who asked them to share their perspective.

Thanks to statewide psychedelic decriminalization efforts, displaying and sharing (but not selling) psilocybin mushrooms is legal in Colorado. With vendors and exhibition spaces placed inside and outside at Reelworks, Shroom Fest organizers hoped to educate and inspire mushroom enthusiasts of all kinds.
