World of Asphalt is where you go to see the latest and great the industry has to offer. You go expecting to see what the future of the industry might look like. Over the 10-year period, there are notable fluctuations in the sales figures for pavement repair services, reflecting both market conditions and the broader economic environment. From TC 2015 to TC 2016, the sector saw a slight decline of approximately 5.2%, with sales dropping from $269 million to $255 million. However, this decline was followed by a significant drop of 35.3% in TC 2017, when sales fell to $165 million.

Last year (TC 2024), ahead of the data from the Top Contractor survey coming in, I was predicting a moderate amount of paving specific growth. I was surprised when the data showed just the opposite, and the sector contracted by $68.3 million, or, to put it another way, it shrank about 7.5% from the TC 2023 figure. Unfortunately, this trend continues for this year.
