At 7 a.m. a phone alarm pierces the silence. You roll over to hit snooze but click on the bright red notification instead and end up scrolling yourself awake. Among the news stories, recipe videos, and sightseeing photos you notice a quote from a neighbor you met in passing last summer: “You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone.” Concerned, you select the post, but there is not much there to analyze. It is their first post in months. No friends have commented on it yet.

Although these artificial intelligence (AI) systems sometimes quickly point us to the right webpage to accomplish the task at hand, more often, we end up desperately searching for a way to speak with an actual human to get real answers.
