    JCB has cleared significant hurdles in its development of the world’s first hydrogen combustion engine after securing landmark rulings from licensing authorities allowing it to be used commercially in machines, the company announced on 10th January. JCB is the first construction equipment company to develop a fully working combustion engine fuelled by hydrogen and a team of 150 engineers has been working on the exciting £100 million development for over three years.

    An expert from Biffa has warned business owners about the risks of fines for not complying with UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, which require a take-back system for consumers. Non-compliance could lead to fines of up to £5,000 at Magistrates Court and potentially unlimited fines at Crown Court. This warning follows the UK Government’s announcement of a ban on non-refillable, non-rechargeable vapes effective 1st June, impacting England, Wales, and Scotland.

    Catastrophic flash floods in Valencia, Spain, have caused at least 223 deaths. The cause is a phenomenon known as DANA (high-altitude isolated depression). Unlike typical storms, DANA can develop independently of jet streams. In response to the disaster, several Bobcat dealers have actively supported affected communities by sending machinery and personnel to assist with cleaning and debris removal. Some dealers even sent their own machinery and travelled to Valencia to help with recovery efforts.
