High school students will learn about “queer theory,” “Black feminism,” and “gender equity” at a Tulane University summer program this month. The New Orleans-based university’s Newcomb Summer Session describes itself as a “selective pre-college program designed to educate students for gender equity.”“High school students will get a preview of the college classroom while forming a strong community centered on exploring gender issues and social change,” the description continues.

For the cost of almost $5,000, high schoolers can learn about “black feminism,” “reproductive justice,” “trans lives,” and “queer love stories” from a private liberal arts college in Northampton, Massachusetts this summer. The summer program on Smith College’s website under the title of “Women, Gender, & Representation.” The classes are scheduled for July 20-Aug. 2, which students can attend for $4,864.

The University of Virginia’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) recently called for the board of visitors to stop a process of eliminating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices. The organization made the request in a June 5 letter, Virginia Public Media reported. The letter does not appear on the group’s website and does not seem to have been made public.

A prominent sign and building at a private university in Portland, Oregon were vandalized on June 14 with “Free Palestine” messages. An employee for the University of Portland told The Beacon, the school’s student run newspaper, that the damage could cost $1,000 or more. “Due to the timing and nature of this incident, I would be surprised if [the cleanup cost] did not reach quadruple digits,” Director of Campus Safety and Emergency Management Michael McNerney said about the vandalism.

The Arizona Board of Regents has voted to remove mentions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and other related terms from its policies in order to comply with one of President Trump’s executive orders. The vote, which took place during a meeting on June 12, affects 10 policies. The changes include replacing “equity” and “inclusion” with “equality” and the removal of references to “ethnic minorities” and “affirmative action,” The Arizona Republic reports.
