ST. LOUIS — Andre Pallante has been flirting with disaster in a number of his recent starts, but prior to Tuesday night at Busch Stadium, it’s mostly been just that: harmless flirtation en route to middling back-of-the-rotation style production. But disaster finally found him in definitive fashion on Tuesday. The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Royals, 10-7, and it was Pallante’s undoing in the fifth inning that helped flip things back in favor of the visitors from the west.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Cardinals announced a flurry of roster moves ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game against the Rangers in Arlington, Texas. Among them was the revelation of an injury for outfielder Jordan Walker. Walker landed on the injured list Saturday with left wrist inflammation. The timing for Walker is unfortunate, as he had been swinging a hot bat at the plate recently, logging a .333 batting average and .879 OPS since May 14, and a .926 mark over his past five games.

Did you realize that the St. Louis Cardinals haven’t won a single game on a Thursday all month? So much for May being such a brilliant month for the team, eh? Dumb joke, I know. Savvy readers will recall that the Cardinals have had a pretty cushy schedule when it comes to regular days off this month. They’ve played only once on a Thursday, opening May with a loss to the Reds. The Cards also lost the next game on Friday, May 2. Since, they’ve rattled off wins in 18 of their last 23 games.

Before doing any research on a hypothesis to confirm its veracity, the ‘evidence’ is really just a gut feeling about something—it’s anecdotal. But anecdotally, it sure feels like the St. Louis Cardinals have had a helluva knack for come-from-behind wins in 2025. So I went scouring the box scores for answers to determine if how it feels is reflected in reality. By my count, the Cardinals have 14 comeback wins in 2025, counting any game in which the team trailed at some point but ended up with a W.

And the best part of it is, this year on Flag Day, we still have no idea exactly what the Cardinals are

Happy Flag Day to @ClaibsOnline and all others who celebrate

God bless this man.

"One of their players, he liked to talk from far away, but then when he got in my face, didn't say shit," Willson Contreras said postgame. "I was looking for more than that. He seems to be tougher. He's a fucking pussy. I'm not gonna name no names. He knows who he is."

This day went pretty well for the Cardinals. Offense showed fight. Bullpen had some shaky moments but got through it. And Helsley had an ideal scenario to come in and get some work. It's still a work in progress on the fastball, but seemed productive. Losing skid = done
