A new Theatre Production Company, Ramsey Productions, is staging two classic plays by French playwright Molière. “The Pretentious Young Ladies” and “The Countess of Escarbagnas” will open next week at Cookeville Performing Arts Center. The shows are directed by Aaron Ramsey, a 27-year-old graduate from Tennessee Tech University with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Theatre. This will be his second time directing at CPAC.

On Nov. 12, the Upper Cumberland Association of Realtors will celebrate its 50th anniversary, marking half a century in the real estate profession in Tennessee's Upper Cumberland region. What began as a modest organization with just 15 members has now flourished into 575 members across nine counties. UCAR's roots trace back to Sept. 12, 1974, when it was established as the Cookeville Area Board of Realtors.

New firefighter recruits from Cookeville, Crossville and Livingston took part this week in a specialized training academy focused on vehicle extrication techniques, aimed at teaching firefighters how to safely remove victims from vehicles involved in car crashes. “We're teaching our recruits how to properly stabilize and open doors on vehicles if there’s a patient trapped inside," said Cookeville firefighter Lieutenant Steven Brown, one of the instructors.

The first ever "Pulling for a Purpose Plane Pull" to benefit Special Olympics Tennessee took place on Saturday, June 1, at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport. The event featured two plane pull challenges, attracting participants from across the region. The main event, a 10-person team plane pull, involved dragging a 40,000-pound Gulfstream IV plane a distance of 50 feet. A single-person plane pull was also held, where individuals attempted to move a 4,000-pound Piper Aztec plane 25 feet.

The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport hosted the inaugural Pulling for a Purpose Plane Pull Saturday to benefit Special Olympics. Top Three Individual Pulls were Trent Nash, first place, 15:69; Allen Richardson, second place, 16:03; and Malik Brewer, third place, 16:53. Top Team Pulls were Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, first place; Cookeville Police Department, second place; and Tennessee Highway Patrol, third place.
