President Trump is leaning into the use of executive orders more than his predecessors did and much more than even he did in his first term. President Trump has signed more than 75 executive orders to start his second term, spurring about 100 lawsuits so far. For now, most of the orders have survived. The flood has overwhelmed opponents and forced courts to work overtime to try to keep up. That was by design.

President-elect Donald Trump filed a last-ditch request asking the Supreme Court to block his coming New York sentencing for covering up hush money paid to an adult-film star. A state jury convicted Trump last year of 34 felonies for falsifying business records. After months of post-trial maneuvering by Trump’s lawyers, the presiding New York judge last week said he would sentence Trump this Friday, days before the coming inauguration.
