Johan Oviedo only managed 2.1 innings before getting the hook in DC, a rare sight over the last few weeks for Pittsburgh. Before his departure, the Nationals managed seven runs on nine hits, his ERA climbing to 4.78 on the year.

Mitch Keller turned in six innings of work for the Bucs, allowing three runs on seven hits, the biggest of which was Lars Nootbaar’s home run to knot the game at three in the sixth inning. Keller would walk a pair and strike out three in the process.

Johan Oviedo pitched superbly on the mound for Pittsburgh in the win, going six and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits while picking up five strikeouts and, most importantly, keeping Chicago out of the run column. The win belongs to Oviedo, his first of the season.

Baltimore led the clubs in the hits department, powering their way to victory off Austin Hays’ second Spring Training long ball. Ryan Mountcastle’s grand slam made it a done deal in the bottom of the fifth inning. Neither team had broken through before Connor Joe’s double plated Cal Mitchell, breaking the seal and giving Pittsburgh a 1-0 advantage.
