I’m attempting to end my post-Oscars movie slog by showcasing my comprehensive list of what I consider to be the top twenty-five films of last year. Since the night before the Academy Awards, I’ve only been to the theater once. Yikes! While I may have so far missed out on seeing some of 2025’s newest offerings where they deserve to be seen, nothing stopped me from enjoying a bountiful 2024.

WILLIAMSTOWN – West Virginia highway officials want drivers to remember that the people who work on the roads around the state are people with families they want to go home to every night. The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) held a memorial ceremony for the 58 state highway workers who have lost their lives on the job at the West Virginia Fallen Workers Memorial at the West Virginia Welcome Station near Williamstown just off of Interstate 77.

PARKERSBURG – A protest over a reported visit by members of the Department of Government Efficiency to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service offices in Parkersburg is underway despite snow and cold temperatures. Well over 100 people gathered in Bicentennial Park not far from the Fiscal Service office off Market Street beside the Wood County Courthouse. From there they walked to the office.

By Brett DunlapStaff ReportPARKERSBURG — More snow is in the forecast as the area prepares to keep roads open. After around a foot of snow blanketed the area earlier this week, the National Weather Service in Charleston is reporting another 1-3 inches of snowfall from Friday afternoon into Saturday for the Parkersburg area. A storm system was moving into the area Friday afternoon and going into Saturday morning, Meteorologist Tom Mazza. “It should be over by the afternoon,” he said.
