An 87-year-old man recently diagnosed with anemia and a ureterovesical junction mass was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with septic shock secondary to obstructive pyelonephritis. He was treated with antibiotics and kidney decompression. His condition stabilized, and he was transferred to the general medicine service.
