AMES – Back in February 2021, Iowa State offered Xavier Townsend, a wide receiver out of Tampa, a scholarship. In June of that year, he made a visit to Ames before he committed in July. But, Townsend flipped his commitment to UCF in December 2021 and spent three seasons in Orlando, one of which he redshirted. When Townsend decommitted to Iowa State, he made sure not to ruffle any feathers or burn any bridges. That decision turned out to be a good one.

March 30, 2025 The early work in the transfer portal continued for Iowa State Sunday. The Cyclones landed a commit out of Virginia in Blake Buchanan, a forward standing 6-feet 11-inches. Buchanan spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Virginia and will enter Iowa State with two years of eligibility remaining. As a Cavalier, Buchanan played in 66 games and started in 28. In the 2024-25 season, he started 22 games and made appearances in 32.

March 30, 2025 Most Valuable Player (MVP)Brett Twelmeyer, Sports Editor: Tamin LipseyMost Valuable Player awards should go to players who provide value in many different ways. Tamin Lipsey is the perfect embodiment of that. Lipsey averaged 10.6 points and 3.1 assists per game. Though there were some games where Lipsey didn’t have a whole lot on the stat sheet, his extra-effort plays stuck out.

AMES – One day after Iowa State’s season ended in a 91-78 defeat by Ole Miss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, four Cyclones have entered their names in the transfer portal. Redshirt senior center Dishon Jackson, junior guard Demarion Watson, redshirt freshman forward Kayden Fish and redshirt freshman center JT Rock all made the decision Monday. Dishon JacksonOne of the “Presidents,” Jackson was a starter in 33 games this season.
