    Four years ago, I had no clue where I would be today. Now, I know that’s a basic generality, but it’s true. Like a lot of people around that time in their lives, the one thing I did know was that I didn’t truly know what I wanted to do after high school. I always knew I would end up at Iowa State. It just felt like my destiny, but I knew I needed to wait. My parents met at Iowa State in 19-something. They were ushers at Hilton Coliseum and CY Stephens.

    ANKENY, Iowa — The world of NIL has had a big spotlight in the world of college athletics recently for many reasons. One opportunity it provides athletes is the chance to do good in their communities and give back. Iowa State redshirt junior quarterback Rocco Becht is no exception to this, as he hosted his second youth football camp at Ankeny High School Saturday. “Last year I had a camp in Perry, but this is different,” Becht said.

    AMES — Giving back and being a part of the central Iowa community isn’t uncommon for Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht. The redshirt junior hosted a youth camp in Perry last year and donated Xbox One Series X systems to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames a couple of weeks ago. Now, Becht is bringing his youth football camp back, this time in Ankeny. The camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ankeny High School for children ages six to 16.

    Three Cyclones were drafted on the second night of the NFL Draft. Wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel heard their names called, as did cornerback Darien Porter. Jayden HigginsHiggins was the first Cyclone off the board. After no former Iowa State players were taken on night one, it didn’t take long for Higgins to get drafted on night two. In the second pick of the night, Higgins was taken by the Houston Texans at 34th overall.
