Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus) Lemon grass has proven to be an excellent addition to our rooftop farm. It is fast growing and produces a wonderful citrus scent. Lemon grass is an annual plant in our region because it is native to tropical areas. However, lemon grass has proven to be very well adapted to the growing conditions that exist on a green roof. We have grown this species both on green roofs and in native at-grade gardens.
