The intrepid sleuths of the Antiquities Trafficking Unit (ATU) of the Manhattan DA's office have done it again-this time returning a unique 13-page manuscript to Paraguay, from whose National Archives in Asunción it was pilfered at least a decade ago. Known as the Hernandarias manuscript, the document was written, signed, and dated by Hernando Arias de Saavedra, a Spanish colonial governor in Paraguay, in 1598.

This time, instead of smashing into an innocent pedestrian on the sidewalk or street, two violent CitiBike female e-bikers used their battery-powered vehicles to perform a different kind of hit and run by punching three random Upper East Siders-two of them seniors-and then speeding away.

Because it happened just two days after the horrific broken bottle attack on costume designer Mae Berg in Soho, another random stabbing-this one in Midtown-got less attention than it might have. The details are as follows:On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at approximately 12:31 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a stabbing in the vicinity of W. 32nd St. and 5th Ave., within the confines of the Midtown South Precinct.

Transliterated and resounding along 5th Avenue as thousands of spectators and marchers celebrated the blue and white flag of Hellas for the annual Greek Independence Day Parade on Sunday March 30. The route, which ran from E. 61 to E. 74 Street, reflected the event's place in the middle of the pack, participation wise, of Manhattan parades.
