The Oklahoma and Oklahoma State softball teams have both earned spots in the field for the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners are the #2 overall seed and will be hosting a regional for the 14th straight tournament and the 21st time overall. OU will face Boston University in the first round on Friday at 5:00 pm. California will face Omaha in the other first round game Friday at 2:30 pm. Oklahoma State will be in the Fayetteville regional and face Indiana in the first round Friday at 3:00 pm.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and former Oklahoma State standout Cade Cunningham are both among three finalists for separate individual NBA awards. SGA is a finalist for the Most Valuable Player, along with Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee’s Giannis Anteteokounmpo. Cunningham is a finalist for the Most Improved Player Award, along with Dyson Daniels of Atlanta and Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers. The award winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Oklahoma’s women’s basketball team got a commitment on Tuesday from the nation’s top-ranked high school girls basketball recruit. Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, announced her commitment live on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon. Chavez was named the Gatorade National High School Girls Player of the Year, and the Naismith National Player of the Year, averaging 35.3 points a game as a senior and leading her team to a state championship.

LINDSAY, Okla. (KFOR) — This school year KFOR is once again recognizing outstanding scholar-athletes. We are teaming up with Homeland to honor Cameron King of Lindsay High School. Cameron plays both football and baseball for the Leopards and is a member of an organization called Students Out Serving. Outside of the classroom, Cameron is an usher at his church and is involved in his church youth group.

Oklahoma State had six wrestlers advance to the quarterfinals and are in third place in the team standings after one day at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia. Penn State is the team leader with 39.5 points after going 20-0 in the first two rounds, with Nebraska in second place with 28 points and OSU with 27. OSU had Troy Spratley at 125, Caleb Fish at 157, Cameron Amine at 165, Dean Hamiti at 174, Dustin Plott at 184, and heavyweight Wyatt Hendrickson all make the quarterfinals.

Oklahoma State had five players score in double figures, led by Bryce Thompson’s 23 points to beat Wichita State 89-79 on Tuesday night in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. The Cowboys went on a 12-2 run midway through the second half to take a double digit lead and take control of the game for good. Thompson also contributed five steals for the Cowboys, who improved to 16-17 on the season.

Both the Oklahoma and Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball teams have made the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners earned a #3 seed and will host first and second round games at the Lloyd Noble Center. OU will play Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday in the first round at 1:30 pm. Iowa will play Murray State in the other first round game Saturday. Iowa is the alma mater of OU head coach Jennie Baranczyk. It’s the eighth time the Sooners will host NCAA Tournament games and the second time in the last four years.

Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021. The Sooners are the #9 seed in the West Region and will play the #8 seed Connecticut, the two-time reigning national champions, on Friday at about 8:25 pm in Raleigh, North Carolina. If OU wins, they’ll play on Sunday against the winner of Florida vs. Norfolk State. The Sooners are one of 14 Southeastern Conference teams in the field, a new record for one conference.
