The Sooners are the #2 overall seed and will be hosting a regional for the 14th straight tournament and the 21st time overall. OU will face Boston University in the first round on Friday at 5:00 pm. California will face Omaha in the other first round game Friday at 2:30 pm. Oklahoma State will be in the Fayetteville regional and face Indiana in the first round Friday at 3:00 pm.

    Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and former Oklahoma State standout Cade Cunningham are both among three finalists for separate individual NBA awards. SGA is a finalist for the Most Valuable Player, along with Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee’s Giannis Anteteokounmpo. Cunningham is a finalist for the Most Improved Player Award, along with Dyson Daniels of Atlanta and Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers. The award winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, announced her commitment live on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon. Chavez was named the Gatorade National High School Girls Player of the Year, and the Naismith National Player of the Year, averaging 35.3 points a game as a senior and leading her team to a state championship.
