The competition in the Husker secondary is running deep. On Saturday Matt Rhule said the Huskers could start six different guys at corner or four or five different guys at safety. Returning starter Ceyair Wright's thoughts on the matter of strong competition? Good deal. Better yet when that competition has each other's back when making plays. "Even in that competition there's still love with each other," Wright said.

The Husker defensive line has plenty of enthusiasm about what's ahead for Nebraska's new-look defensive line. VIPEveryone shortens it to RVP in Husker message board land. Three letters for such a big man. Riley Van Poppel is listed at 6-5, 290 pounds but some guys just look bigger than the measurements. Tyson Terry is a large human being and looked small next to RVP in a recent photo.

Here's what the Husker defensive coordinator had to say about a variety of subjects after Tuesday's practice. John Butler will occasionally offer up the question to Phil Snow. "Where do you think we are relative to this place?'" Nebraska's defensive coordinator said Tuesday. Or that place? Or that place over there? Places that Snow has been. Obviously Snow has a deep catalogue of teams he's watched develop over offseasons past. So his feedback is valuable to have as the Huskers build this 2025 defense.

The details off the field are just as important to a developing Husker taking off on it. VIPHe's gained 32 pounds since he arrived to the Nebraska program. And Kwinten Ives' coach could tell you that number to the pound just as much as the running back himself. "We do a great job in our nutrition program. But Coach Rhule, we're hands-on on and off the field," Husker running backs coach E.J. Barthel said last week. "I know exactly how much he weighs every single day.

While Dana Holgorsen was spending some time in TCU's camp in 2024, he was intrigued by the GoPro technology the Horned Frogs were using. Nebraska's offensive coordinator was actually lending his expertise to helping TCU's defense at the time. But he asked head coach Sonny Dykes to tell him more about this GoPro thing the offensive side of the ball had going. A small camera mounted on the QB's helmet. Interesting. Something that is also going on at the Husker spring camp this year.
