South Carolina defensive back Nick Emmanwori runs drills during the team's Pro Day on March 18, 2025. AP This is a sneaky need for the Jets. It is not talked about as much as right tackle, tight end, wide receiver or defensive tackle — but it is a need.

The Jets signed Brandon Stephens in free agency to pair up with Sauce Gardner on the outside and Michael Carter II is back as the nickel. That has the Jets pretty set at starter, but they could look to add some depth on Day 3 of the draft. Notre Dame’s Benjamin Morrison could be an interesting value pick if he slides into Day 3.

A week after making a bunch of trades, I stayed put this week and made the picks the Jets have. The first-round decision for the Jets feels like it will be between an offensive lineman and tight end Tyler Warren. Offensive tackles Will Campbell and Armand Membou make a lot of sense for the Jets as they don’t currently have an answer at right tackle. But Warren could give Justin Fields a nice target in the middle of the field.

The Jets have declared that Justin Fields will be QB1 in 2025. But does that mean they won’t draft a quarterback? I don’t think so, but the question to me is what level of commitment the Jets make at quarterback in this year’s draft. Is it taking a flyer on a quarterback on Day 3, a guy who will be expected to sit on the bench for a while and maybe develop into a backup? Or do they grab one on Day 2 who can take some time on the bench but then be a possibility in 2026?

The Jets just gave Jamien Sherwood a three-year, $45 million contract, so he’s going to be here for a while. The question mark is Quincy Williams, who was All-Pro in 2023. Williams is entering the final year of his contract. We may get a clue how the Jets’ new regime feels about Williams with their approach to the draft. Do the Jets try to draft a linebacker to develop as a replacement for Williams in 2026?
