2. Literature ReviewWetlands. The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, an intergovernmental treaty between 172 countries, provides a comprehensive framework for wetland conservation and management. The convention recognizes wetlands as “vital for human survival” and “among the world’s most productive environments,” encompassing both natural systems (lakes, rivers, marshes, peatlands) and human-made features (fish ponds, reservoirs) [].
