Kevin English was pretty sure he wanted a car from 1960. That was the year he was born, and he wanted a car to match him in age. He really wasn’t sure what he wanted, but he darn sure wasn’t planning on winding up with a huge, almost completely original, bare- bones, six-cylinder Plymouth sedan. Even with its “Forward Look” MoPar styling, this Plymouth was the plainest of “Plain Janes” — not the car most guys dream about. But English just know the car was too unique, and too original, to pass up.

Scott Ulrich can confirm that his wife Annette was right. It isn’t always easy for a car guy to do, but Ulrich admits his better half had a better idea when it came time to pick a color for the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme the couple was restoring. “Yeah, there was a discussion,” chuckles Ulrich, a resident of Waunakee, Wis. “I wanted to paint it Viking Blue. I wanted a Viking Blue convertible. My wife said no we’re going to paint it the original color.

When it comes to 1974 Pontiac Trans Ams, John Friske is pretty good shape. Fifty years ago, John and his wife Connie, who reside in Verona, Wis., bought themselves a new 1974 Trans Am. Brand spanking new, Admiralty Blue, 400-cube V-8 with an automatic. Pretty sweet car for a couple of newlyweds. “I’ve always wanted a Super-Duty, and I wanted a Super-Duty back then,” chuckles John. “But we were just married, so we had to be a little more practical.
