Essex Cricket have confirmed that wicketkeeper Simon Fernandes has put pen to paper on a rookie contract with the club. After making his way through the Essex pathway, Fernandes impressed in the Essex second string, making his debut against their Hampshire counterparts in August 2021. The 24-year-old, who plays his club cricket for Colchester & East Essex CC, appeared as a substitute for the injured Michael Pepper during Essex’s Rothesay County Championship Division One win over Worcestershire.
