Anytime we publish an article about Three Dog Night, it receives a tremendous response, which tells us one thing: people loved that band. Of course, they are one of my favorite bands of all time. I grew up listening to them. Not just the big hits on the radio, but as a teenager in the 1970s, I purchased every single album they released.

I think it’s fair to say that, for many people in their 60s and above, their first introduction to music was either from record albums that their parents or older brothers and sisters had in the house, or quite simply from hearing a song on AM radio. When you’re 10 years old, you really don’t have the funds to buy your own music, and you’re pretty much just coming into your own place in awareness of the world around you—and music isn’t always the first thing on your mind.
