El último intento de viaje espacial de SpaceX, la empresa del multimillonario Elon Musk, volvió a fracasar estrepitosamente la semana pasada. Tras dos intentos anteriores que terminaron en explosiones, el despegue del martes pasado —el noveno de la Starship en total— terminó con la nave girando sin control a los 30 minutos de vuelo. The hottest thing in meat, these days? Apparently, it’s vegetables. Nectar, a nonprofit research organization dedicated to advancing alternative proteins, released findings last week from a large-scale blind taste test comparing hybrid meat-veggie products with traditional meat. The blended products, which they’re calling “balanced proteins,” are a hit with omnivores—so much so that testers actually preferred some of them to their all-meat counterparts.

Last month, a food research organization called Nectar released an expansive set of findings from taste tests that rated plant-based meat alternatives alongside actual meat. One bit of information stood out: In terms of taste, 54% of people on average found 20 vegan products (such as burgers, nuggets, and sausages) from 13 brands (including Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods, and Gardein) to taste as good as or better than analogous conventional meat products.
