    Mothers across Windsor and Essex County were treated to a variety of breakfasts, lunches and activities on Sunday. The Canadian Transportation Museum in Kingsville held its Mother’s Day event for the third year with two packed sittings, morning and afternoon. Christine White, manager and head cook at the transportation museum, said the two sittings are popular with families who want to take mother’s out for special meal.

    Hockey fans who peeled themselves away from watching the Leafs, the Oilers and the Jets in the NHL playoffs on the weekend got a chance to lace up – their running shoes, not their skates – during the HockeyFest tournament at Riverside Festival Plaza. About 50 teams, with some 500 players, took part in the ball-hockey tournament and attended the evening country music concert with the Cambridge-area duo the Reklaws, Waterloo’s Nate Haller and Pickering’s Griffin Palmer.

    Windsor police have charged two youths who allegedly recorded themselves assaulting younger children then posted the video online. On May 9, the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation after receiving a report that four children were assaulted while walking home from school the previous afternoon. Investigators learned that older youths approached the children, brandished a knife and a BB gun, and threatened to harm them.

    In the face of opposition, the Essex Region Conservation Authority has paused plans to build a nine-hole disc golf course at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area. The plan was initiated after an unnamed donor gave $10,000 donation for the disc golf course.

    Garden lovers will get a chance take in a new event in Kingsville on the first weekend of summer. The Kingsville Horticulture Society and the Arts Society of Kingsville are combining efforts to create the Kingsville Vintage Garden tour & Tea on June 21-22. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The Kingsville Garden Tour & Tea will showcase some of Kingsville’s exquisite private gardens as well as municipal gardens that members of the Kingsville Horticultural Society plant and maintain.

Canada has the ninth largest economy in the world by GDP. The government hasn’t shut down, the House isn’t meeting, which has no effect on the GDP.

@susandelacourt @Keir_Starmer I still don’t understand why Canada thinks it has any impact on the world economy. We have resources and that’s what we should be selling, but our government has shut that down so we have nothing.
