The U.S. Congress made another crucial decision to protect energy choice, this time as it relates to the propane industry’s delivery vehicles, according to the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA). On May 22, the U.S. Senate passed disapproval resolutions under the Congressional Review Act to rescind the Biden administration’s Advanced Clean Trucks and low-NOx Omnibus waivers granted to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). NPGA shared the news as a member alert.

Mergers and acquisitions over the past 25 years have changed the look and feel of the retail propane industry. In fact, only three of the top 10 companies from the 1999 and 2000 LP Gas Top Retailers issues remain today: the majors AmeriGas, Ferrellgas and Suburban Propane. The three national companies, the largest retailers in the United States, respectively, eventually would acquire nearly all the other companies in the top 10 during that period.
