On December 27, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) published a proposed rule under Modernization of CosmeticsRegulation Act (MoCRA) to require manufacturers to (1) testtalc-containing cosmetic products or any talc ingredient used forthe presence of asbestos and (2) maintain certain recordsregarding this testing. Comments are due to the agency by March 27,2025. This is the first proposed rule that the agency has published aspart of its implementation of MoCRA.

On December 27, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a final rule updating the criteria regarding when foods may be labeled with the nutrient content claim “healthy” and derivatives thereof—“health,” “healthful,” “healthfully,” “healthfulness,” “healthier,” “healthiest,” “healthily,” and “healthiness.” The compliance date is February 25, 2028.
