The group examined the specificities of issues facing the area by collaborating with nonprofits Larkin Street Youth Services, St. Anthony's, San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Project Open Hand and Compass Family Services. Additionally, Lam and her peers learned the history of San Francisco's Chinatown during a walking tour, and they sat in on the Housing Authority of the City and County of San Francisco's monthly Development, Finance and Operations Committee meeting.

A myriad of new and revised courses were introduced at Pomona College this fall semester, bolstering studies in classics, philosophy, politics and more than two dozen other majors. Four professors recently explained the importance and timeliness of their respective courses, as well as how such additions to the College’s curriculum would prepare students for life after Pomona.

Among the new transfer students at Pomona College are two Army veterans who found the campus’ charm and surrounding community too inviting to pass up. Half-way through the fall semester, they have been embraced by other veterans and transfer students and hope to maximize their time at Pomona, which will propel them into the next chapter of their lives. The Class of 2027 comes to Pomona College from 39 states and 34 countries, with plans to study the humanities, social sciences and STEM subjects. The 410 new first-year students on campus this school year represent one of the most ethnically and racially diverse classes in college history.
