Communicating with a language barrier can be hard, but when these students traveled to Italy, they found a common ground that transcends spoken word: the art of dance. “Whether the teacher could speak English or not, through dance, we were able to communicate and share the love of dance with each other,” Utah Tech University dance Adviser Jenny Mair said. Mair set up the program in 2019 after enjoying similar benefits when she was a graduate dance student.

ST. GEORGE — Desert Hills High School teacher Brielle Brosier was selected as one of five educators nationwide for C-Span’s 2024 Teacher Fellowship program. In this role, Brosier helped create multimedia educational content for C-Span Classroom. C-Span Networks provides free online resources for teachers, students and the public.

ST. GEORGE — As inflation continues to rise and families struggle with back-to-school expenses, BluSky Restoration stepped up to help students in Southern Utah. At back-to-school night Friday evening at Sandstone Elementary School in St. George, the company set up a row of tables with food, treats and 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to families in need.

ST. GEORGE — More than 35,000 children will be returning to school in Washington County on Monday. And with that is a new year of expectations for students, teachers and parents alike. Starting on a Aug. 12, instead of the middle of the week, is a new schedule started just this year. Steve Dunham, director of communications for Washington County School District, told St. George News that in order for students to be out of school by Memorial Day in late May, concessions had to be made.

Entrepreneur Ian Foster saw this play out during the COVID-19 pandemic as a therapist at the time. All of his sessions went online, which meant he only saw his clients on a screen.
