We are off to a quiet and mild start with temperatures in the 50-60s this Sunday morning. Temperatures quickly climb back into the mid to upper 80s today with widespread hazy sunshine. Canadian wildfire smoke will increase near the surface, potentially worsening air quality. Limit your time outdoors later today if you are sensitive to changes in air quality. There is a chance Kansas City could see the Northern Lights tonight! The best time to venture outside will be between 10 PM to 1 AM.

UNDEFEATED ON THE SEASON. IT’S 552 NOW ON YOUR SATURDAY MORNING, AND IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE BASEBALL WEATHER THIS WEEKEND. BRITTANY. THAT’S RIGHT. VERY SUMMERLIKE GREAT FOR THE POOL. ANYTHING OUTSIDE? JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THAT SUNSCREEN ON AND YOU’RE STAYING HYDRATED BECAUSE WE ARE EXPECTING A VERY HOT WEEKEND FORECAST. AND ALSO A LITTLE BIT ON THE HAZY SIDE WITH A VERY SMALL CHANCE FOR SOME POP-UP THUNDERSTORMS UP IN THE FORECAST FOR TODAY. BETTER CHANCE FOR STORMS THAT WILL BE ON TUESDAY.

It certainly won't be a sunny and warm Memorial Day weekend in Kansas City, but it won't necessarily be a washout. Showers start to move into the Kansas City area throughout Friday evening. Widespread rain is most likely around 10 p.m. and beyond. Some thunderstorms may pop up along and south of Interstate 70 overnight, some of which could be strong. Saturday and Sunday are both First Alert Impact Days due to the potential for heavy rain.

Morning showers and storms continue to dissipate and move away from the Kansas City area. We will see a dry period for the remainder of the morning into the early afternoon hours, but storm chances increase after that. Today is an Impact Day due to the threat for severe storms this afternoon into the overnight hours. The risk this afternoon is a conditional threat. Meaning we might see storms this afternoon, but we also might not.
