Officially named NB.1.8.1, the subvariant has been under observation by the World Health Organization since May 23.     A Japanese monk who brought home an abandoned puppy was saved by the very same canine when he came across a bear in the woods. Tougen Yoshihara, the head monk at Youkoku Temple in Niigata, was walking through the woods with his one-year-old beagle, Chico, when a wild bear suddenly appeared in front of them. The bear, standing about 1.6 meters tall, caught Yoshihara completely off guard as  he had never come face-to-face with such a large animal before.

    The Louvre, the most-visited museum in the world, shut its doors on Monday after staff went on strike, claiming the institution is “crumbling” due to mass tourism. Thousands of visitors were left confused, standing in unmoving lines outside the iconic glass pyramid. Kevin Ward, from Milwaukee, said there were “thousands of people waiting” but “no explanation” from the museum.

Many of the writers being targeted had published their work on Haitang, a Taiwanese website well known for its BL content. If found guilty, these authors could face fines, detention, or even time behind bars. Some of those caught up in the crackdown have shared their experiences on social media.

    An Air India flight bound for London’s Gatwick airport crashed less than a minute after taking off in Ahmedabad, India, killing 241 passengers and crew members. Miraculously, one passenger had survived. More than 200 bodies have been recovered from the scene so far, but it’s still unclear how many were passengers on the flight and how many were people on the ground.
