The shred truck will be at Bradford National Bank in Centralia, located at 1425 E. McCord in Centralia. Bradford National Bank is providing this service at no charge to the community.

Samuel Arthur Johnloz, 69, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at Plaza Verde in Centralia. He was born on October 2, 1955, in Bakersfield, California, to Mary Opal Beeler Johnloz and Standford McGee Johnloz. They preceded him in death. Sam was a graduate of Centralia High School, Class of 1974. He worked at Kaskaskia Workshop, Inc., starting in 1978, remaining in the Residential Program until his death. He was employed by Farm Fresh Dairy Stores in 1995 until they were sold in 2023.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say a 27-year-old Iuka man was injured in a single vehicle rollover crash on the 3900 block of County Farm Road southeast of Salem early Wednesday night. Andrew Pokojski of U.S. 50 told deputies he was traveling southbound when he hit a washboard in the roadway, overcorrected, went into a field and rolled multiple times. He was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and call in the wreck. Pokojski reported bleeding to the head was under control.

Salem Police arrested a 23-year-old Robinson woman who failed to report to prison on a Lawrence County felony conviction. Police say Kyley Benton was one of three suspicious people who were reported to be taking items from the Elephant Storage Units on East Main Street. While the two men with her were quickly cleared, Benton allegedly gave police a false name twice before eventually giving her real name.

The Marion County Fairgrounds comes alive on Friday and Saturday with a variety of activities. Fair Board President Doug Telford says a vendor fair both inside and outside the exhibit building is scheduled for four to eight Friday and nine to five Saturday. On Saturday, there will be free bouncy houses for the kids. There will also be food vendors on site. Telford says the Clinton County BBQ Society Sanction Competition is also scheduled for Saturday.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has designated June 13-16 as Illinois Free Fishing Days for 2025. During these four days, anglers can fish without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp in Illinois. The goal is for non-anglers to discover or rediscover the fun of fishing and to introduce children to the activity.
