1 INTRODUCTION Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common age-related neurodegenerative disorder and affects more than 47.5 million people worldwide (Poirier et al., 2019). AD is characterized by the accumulation of extracellular neuritic plaques formed by amyloid-β (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles composed of hyperphosphorylated tau.
