SHENANDOAH – For the second year in a row, the Shenandoah boys tennis team saw a central Iowa team make the trip to Shenandoah and eliminate the Mustangs in a substate final. Boone earned its ninth straight trip to the Team State Tournament with a 5-2 win Wednesday, May 21, at Shenandoah. The Mustangs battled throughout with two match tiebreaks and two set tiebreaks throughout the dual. In all, six of the 14 full sets to six required the winning team to win a seventh game to take the set.

SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Fillies were eliminated from the team tennis postseason in a 5-1 home loss Tuesday, May 20, to Sergeant Bluff-Luton in a regional semifinal. The loss ended Shenandoah’s dual season with a 10-2 record on a day that started two hours later than originally scheduled due to wet grounds and then the teams waited out a rain delay of more than a half hour shortly after the first four matches started. Gabi Jacobs had the only win for the Fillies.

Sidney senior Hayden Thompson was the tournament runner-up, leading the Sidney boys golf team to a second-place finish Wednesday, May 14, at a Class 1A Sectional Tournament in Council Bluffs. The Cowboys advanced to Monday’s Class 1A District Tournament. The top two individuals from non-qualifying teams also advanced and those were Hamburg’s Keith Thompson, who won the tournament with a 69, and Mason Reed of Fremont-Mills, who fired an 82.
