The Santa Rosa Junior College’s Latinx Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA) organized La Carpa, a talent show. To honor and celebrate talent, heritage and culture students, faculty and community members showcased their diverse talents on Nov. 22 at Burbank Auditorium. The 11th annual Latinx graduation: A triumph despite power outage setback

Despite being interrupted by a power outage that lasted 36 minutes, students shined at the 11th annual Latinx Graduation on May 18, 2024, in Haehl Pavilion. Home is far from a safe haven. According to a press release in November 2023 from UN Women, roughly 55% of all female homicides have been committed by someone they knew. This depicts the reality that home may not be the safe place we’ve always believed. That statistic just became a reality for my friend Melanie, and I am so fucking angry. If Melanie was known for anything it was her hair. Her curls were her own personal crown, and they were almost as big as her personality.

Andrew Engdahl, a relative unknown to the political scene, is The Oak Leaf’s endorsed candidate for California’s 4th Congressional District primary election. Engdahl has a unique life story that has led to his decision to run for Congress. Engdahl was born in Los Gatos, grew up in Livermore and graduated from Granada High School, becoming a Boys Scout and a Varsity wrestler along the way. Engdahl eventually double majored in history and business administration at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
