Western baseball coach Ryan Berryman has built the Panthers into a Class 3A top-10 fixture in his nine seasons at the helm. That hasn’t always led to desired sectional results. LOGANSPORT — Western softball star Brynley Erb needed just one pitch to put her stamp on the Class 3A Logansport Sectional championship on Saturday night at Fincher Field. After Logansport starting pitcher Gracie Risley recorded an out to open the game, Erb stepped to the plate and crushed the first pitch she saw to center field for a home run and the No. 3-ranked Panthers went on to beat the Berries 3-0 for their third straight sectional title.

The Kokomo Boys Track and Field Sectional on Thursday at Walter Cross Field quickly developed into a battle between defending champion Kokomo and 2023 champion Maconaquah for the team title.
