Lakota West has treated every game this season as if it was a state game according to senior pitcher Adrian Smith. The Firebirds will play the real thing next week. May 28-Waynesfield-Goshen couldn't hit Southeastern junior pitcher Reese Wells' changeup - or just about any pitch she threw during a Division VII regional semifinal on Wednesday. Wells struck out 10 batters and was 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run in a dominating 12-0 victory over the Tigers at Northmont High School. "My changeups were really on," Wells, a senior who has a 1.27 ERA and an Ohio Heritage Conference-best 295 strikeouts, said. "That's one of my main pitches when it's working.

May 29-Covington has been involved in slugfests throughout the year and has played a stacked schedule, including three teams in the first week of the season that earned regional berths. One of those squads was Ansonia, which the Buccaneers beat 7-5 in a tight game on March 27. The teams met again on Wednesday, this time in a Division VII regional semifinal at Northmont High School.
