Elle Dawson didn't run quite as fast as she had hoped running in the high 80s heat on Saturday at North Carolina A&T's Truist Stadium. But her time of 5:08.73 in the freshman mile run was good enough to give her the area's only win among high school area participants in this weekend's Adidas Track Nationals. Dawson, representing the High Point Blaze track club, won the race by 1.39 seconds over Vivianna Cellini of Conneaut, Ohio.
