It's that time of the year! If you suffer from seasonal allergies you're probably really feeling it right now! We've been dry the last few days and will continue to be for Mother's Day weekend, so that will enhance higher pollen counts as well. After a wet Kentucky Derby 151, we aren't done with the rain. That same low pressure that brought a sloppy track for race time is still hanging out with us today. The first storm chance is on 502's Day. As of now, this is the only day with a severe risk. Here's the outlook from the SPC for Tuesday in our area. You can see almost all of us are covered by a Slight (2/5) risk for severe storms.

Prior to the spring of 2011, the record number of tornadoes in a single month was 542, set in May 2004, while the record for April was only 267. The 2011 Tornado Super Outbreak by contrast, had 362 confirmed tornadoes. A powerful low pressure system combined with moist and unstable atmospheric conditions to produce this now-infamous tornado outbreak.
