    Leaders of the BJCC, addressing a recent weekend gatherings that turned violent the convention complex says they are working on doing more to keep incidents like this from happening again. “This is where I will kind of lean on something Mayor Woodfin said City Walk is not the place to babysit,” explained BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider. Law enforcement responded to the scene within minutes , and signs in and around the area state minors must be accompanied by adults.

    Video we obtained shows the aftermath of a fight on City Walk , signs in and around the open space encourage parents and guardians to accompany minors. Parents say they're standing on the decision to keep their children away from public events. “First she asked could i bring her out to railroad park, then she asked could I take her to city walk and something in my spirit just told me no like don't take her , don't let her go,” stated Birmingham parent Kamedra Palmore.

Local artist say they would like to see empty spaces used in a way that can benefit the entire community. For more than 5 years the Patton Creek Art Festival has draw dozens to the community, but it hasn't always had a set location. The organizer of the festival says artists in and around the area could put the empty spaces to good use.
