Is it better to have a new plant or to take over an existing plant? We are open to all solutions. For example, the facility in Brazil we bought from another auto company [Ford Motor] and upgraded the facility. “We are not happy with the result,” BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said at the auto show here Oct. 14. “So, you will see several big changes from BYD in the coming months.”BYD plans to “double to triple” its dealer network in Europe by the end of next year, Li said, without providing more details. In Germany, however, the aim is to increase the number of dealers to 120 by the end of 2025 from 26 now.

Magna Steyr built about 10,000 units of the Fisker Ocean last year, Austria state broadcaster ORF reported. Originally, the plan was to build 20,000 to 23,000 Oceans a year. Production of the Ocean was halted last month while Fisker sought new funding, ORF said. Parent Magna International said on Friday that it is facing lower-than-projected sales and earnings after its business with Fisker was idled.

Magna Steyr has capacity for about 150,000 cars per year, but the manufacturer does not provide current capacity utilization figures. In the final quarter of 2023, 21,400 vehicles were built there – compared to 28,600 in the same period in 2022. "The next three years will be very difficult in Graz," said Magna Steyr CEO Roland Prettner in a recent interview with the Kleine Zeitung newspaper.
