The 23rd Global Gaming Expo (G2E) attracted more than 25,000 attendees topping 2022’s attendance of nearly 25.000. The annual event, presented by The American Gaming Association, was held in The Venetian Expo. The American Gaming Association is the premier national trade group for the gaming industry. The G2E fosters a business climate where the legalized gambling industry convenes to present innovations and market their goods. The gaming industry is booming.

We spent an educational, but somewhat depressing day in September, 2023 on a Viking optional excursion to Terezin, a city in the Czech Republic. The excursion was part of a Viking River Cruise pre-cruise extension in Prague prior to the Grand European Cruise which took us from Budapest to Amsterdam. As we traveled through the Czech countryside to our destination 43 miles north of Prague, our guide provided us with some essential background. Terezin consisted of a city and a fortress.

Rothenburg ob Der Tauber, one of Germany’s last remaining walled towns was the destination in early September 2023 during a Viking River Cruise on the 190 passenger Viking Baldur. Our optional excursion also included a tour of the massive Prince Bishop’s Residence in Wurzberg. During a one hour comfortable bus ride from the dock in Wurzburg through small towns and some super highways, our guide Tiago enthusiastically discussed the history of the area and the various crops dotting the countryside.

The puppies we held in our arms might likely be the Iditarod stars of tomorrow. Approximately 40 of us had journeyed to Husky Homestead in Denali Park in Alaska to meet these lovable dogs and learn more about their training for sled dog racing. We were part of Viking’s Pristine Alaska Tour, a post excursion that continued on to incorporate more Alaskan adventures after completing Viking Ocean Cruise Line’s “Alaska and the Inside Passage”.
